AI Video Prompt Templates for Product Videos

By Sagar Chauhan · Published · 3 min read

Short answer

A product-video prompt works best as a template with fixed slots: the product and its materials, the surface or setting, the camera angle and movement, the lighting and the style. Fill the slots for each shot type, such as a hero shot, an in-use shot, a flat lay or a detail close-up, and use real product photos as references wherever your tool allows because AI often distorts labels and fine details.

The base template

Use the same structure for every product shot, and change only the angle, setting and motion:

[Product, material and colour] on [surface or setting], [camera angle and movement], [lighting], [style and palette]. [Constraints].

This is a product-focused version of the 7-part prompt formula.

Templates by shot type

Shot typeTemplate
Hero shot[Product] centred on [clean surface], low-angle close-up, slow push-in, single soft key light from the right, minimal background in [colour], premium commercial look.
In useA person using [product] in [everyday setting], medium shot at eye level, natural window light, warm documentary style, hands and product in focus.
Flat layTop-down view of [product] with [two or three props] on [surface], even soft light, tidy composition, muted [colour] palette.
Detail close-upMacro close-up of [specific feature, such as stitching or texture] on [product], shallow depth of field, soft side light, static camera.
Motion reveal[Product] on [surface] with a slow rotating camera movement around it, dark background, rim light highlighting the edges.
Lifestyle backdropEmpty [setting, such as a sunlit kitchen counter] with space in the frame for the product, shallow depth of field, soft morning light.

Results vary by tool and model. Treat each template as a starting point and adjust one variable at a time.

Keep the product accurate

  • Use your real photos. Feed a clean product photo into tools that support image references or image-to-video.
  • Do not trust generated labels. Text, logos and fine print are often garbled. Add them back in your editor from the real artwork.
  • Check proportions and colour against the real product in every frame.
  • Describe real materials such as matte black plastic, brushed steel or woven cotton.

Add motion without losing control

Create the still you want first, then animate it with a short, single-movement prompt such as "slow push-in" or "gentle rotation". Do not re-describe the whole scene. Keep clips short and cut between them, as explained in our shot list guide.

Using these in ads

Product videos made this way can feed short ads. Read our starter guide to AI video ads for planning, honesty and platform rules before you publish.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI generate accurate product videos?

It can create convincing scenes, but details such as logos, labels and small text are often wrong. Use real photos as references and add exact text and logos in your editor.

What is the best angle for a product hero shot?

A low angle with a clean background and soft, controlled light is a common choice because it makes the product look substantial. Test a few angles with your own product.

Should I animate the image or generate video directly?

Many creators perfect a still first and then animate it with a short motion prompt, because it gives more control over how the product looks.

Do these templates work in every tool?

They are a general structure, not tool-specific syntax. Each tool and model responds differently, so adjust the wording after testing.
